Here is a cake I made ... just to practice my roses. The inside is simply a white cake that has been torted with raspberry preserves. Delicious!

Book Exchange - January Jiaozi
Our books are here!Snoozers : 7 Short Short Bedtime Stories for Lively Little Kids --Thank you Monica Byler! It is so cute! I read the stories to Jim when he got home from work. ;)
Zen Shorts. "This book introduces readers to a Zen approach to the world, wrapped in a story about three siblings and their new neighbor, a panda. One by one, the children visit Stillwater, enjoying his company and listening to him tell a brief tale that illustrates a Zen principle. Each time, there is a link between the conversation shared by Stillwater and his visitor and the story he tells." --Thank you Kari and John DiBiaso! This was fun to read. A treasure for our little ones library!

Book Exchange - January Jiaozi
We had a book exchange this month for our DTC group. We were placed in a group with two other families. These are the books we sent to them.Dumplings Are Delicious. Rain and her friends discover dumplings come in all shapes, sizes, fillings, colors, and names but that dumplings from every culture taste delicious! Dumplings are all unique and no matter where they come from or how they look, they are all special - just like people!
Red. (This is a book from Capstone.) A bright and auspicious color, denotes good fortune and happiness in China. In Chinese writing there are more than 30 single characters describing different kinds of red, including the red of silk, red of wood, and red of meat.

January Jiaozi
Our January 2007 DTC group - January Jiaozi - needed a logo. This is what I created and submitted to the group. Jiaozi (pronounced: jow-dz) is Chinese for Dumpling! Today I was asked by our moderators if it would be okay with me if we used it as our group logo! How cool is that!?! They are going to create and open an online cafepress store for us. This logo will be on shirts or mugs or whatever is available for us to order from this store. Then, when we travel to China, we will more easily be able to see who belongs with our group! I love it! And I am honored to be able to contribute to the group with the logo!
